GAINESVILLE, TX - The North Texas Medical Center clinics have seen outstanding growth in recent years. To help meet the needs of the Cooke County community, the hospital is adding two new doctors; one in the Orthopedic clinic and one in the Women’s Care clinic.
Dr. Ricardo Abreu, orthopedic surgeon, and his wife Dr. Jeidiel De Leòn, a board-certified OB/GYN, will begin their tenure at NTMC on Sept. 8.
Dr. Abreu graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Puerto Rico. He also graduated Magna Lum Laude with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Puerto Rico and served an Internal Medicine Residency with the VA Caribbean Healthcare System and an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. For the past two years, he has trained in an Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston.
He will work alongside Dr. Christian Vissers at the NTMC Health Orthopedic Clinic located at 1615 Hospital Blvd., in Gainesville.
“I’m excited to begin my new role as an Orthopedic Surgeon at North Texas Medical Center,” Dr. Abreu said. “I look forward to using my expertise in shoulder and sports medicine to help serve this community, keeping its people healthy and moving.”
Dr. De Leòn also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Puerto Rico, where she also completed her residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology. It was there that she also completed a Research and Quality Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
After graduation, she has worked as an OB/GYN in Manati, Puerto Rico and in Houston, Texas. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.
She will see patients at the NTMC Health Complete Care for Women clinic, joining Dr. DeCarlo Noble, Dr. Elizabeth Newman and certified nurse midwife Kathy Ellis. That clinic is located at 1902 Hospital Blvd., in Gainesville.
“I’m really excited to be joining the amazing team at North Texas Medical Center,” Dr. De Leòn said. “I’m grateful for the chance to work alongside such compassionate people and to keep doing what I love which is furthering healthcare for women. I can’t wait to dive into the OB/GYN department and be part of supporting women through every stage of their lives.”
Both doctors are fluent in both English and Spanish.
