GAINESVILLE, TX – North Texas Medical Center is proud to welcome Elizabeth Newman, DO to its medical staff. Dr. Newman will join NTMC Health Complete Care beginning Jan. 31.

Dr. Newman was born and raised in Gainesville and graduated from Callisburg High School in 2010. After graduating from Baylor University with a degree in Medical Humanities, she attended medical school at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth and recently completed her Family Medicine residency in Waco. She is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine and is currently working toward board certification in Family Medicine with Obstetrics.

“We are excited to have a physician with Dr. Newman’s unique skill set join the NTMC Health family,” said North Texas Medical Center CEO Tom Sledge. “In today’s world of specialized medicine, primary care physicians that have the credentials and passion to see their pregnant patients all the way through delivery are rare. Dr. Newman will be the only physician at NTMC that provides family medicine and obstetrics services. Dr. Newman will be delivering babies along with Dr. Zaira Jorai-Khan, Dr. Molly Isola and Certified Nurse Midwife Kathy Ellis. We feel blessed that Dr. Newman chose to come back home to begin her practice.”

Dr. Newman is a fluent Spanish speaker and she has experience caring for patients of all ages. She has training in newborn care, pediatrics, prenatal care and obstetrics, gynecology and birth control, general medicine, HIV medicine, mental health, geriatrics and nursing home care, as well as extensive procedural experience.

“I am so thrilled and honored to come home and care for the community that has rallied behind me in so many ways through my long journey of becoming a doctor,” Newman said. “It’s been so humbling to see friends and their families as patients. To be entrusted with that responsibility is an honor and a privilege for which I’m grateful.”

Dr. Newman will see patients at the NTMC Health Complete Care Clinic at 1902 Hospital Blvd., in Gainesville. NTMC Health is on the main campus of North Texas Medical Center in the Medical Office Building on the east side.

“I am so excited to be working for NTMC and am excited for the trajectory of medical care in Cooke County,” she said. “An example of how I have seen this play out is in the rate of deliveries at NTMC almost doubling since the summer. Having been born in Gainesville, I am so excited to get to be a part of the growth and trust in a thriving medical facility in my hometown. I think the convenience of our Complete Care Clinic adjacent to the hospital is a game changer and I have high hopes and aspirations for how this ‘one-stop-shop’ can change the health and wellness of a community.”

Dr. Newman is especially excited to be able to practice Family Medicine at her hometown hospital.

“It is a joy and a privilege to get to care for others on sometimes the best and other times the worst days of their lives, as well as all the days in between,” she said. “I love Family Medicine for that reason. I get to build relationships and take care of patients like they are family and we all hopefully get to grow up and grow old together. It is also why I am passionate about women’s health because if you care well for a woman, she can influence an entire family to seek medical care and thus can impact health for an entire community, generation and beyond. I love caring for a woman through pregnancy, then caring for her baby, then caring for her whole family. It’s the best.”

Dr. Newman is married to Devvon Newman and has two children, Evalyn (4) and Silas (8 months). She is the daughter of Jay Puckett and Martha Quiroz Puckett, both of whom still live in Gainesville.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Newman, call NTMC Complete Care at 940-612-8750.
