GAINESVILLE, Texas – Lane Wyatt Deardeuff was the first newborn of 2025 in Cooke County. Lane was born at North Texas Medical Center on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 at 1:05 pm. Lane weighed 6 lbs., 14.5 oz., and was 19 1/2 inches in length.
Proud parents are Tabitha Andrews and William Deardeuff of Nocona. Lane also has three older siblings.
The couple says they weren’t expecting Lane to be the first baby born in Cooke County this year, because he wasn’t due until Jan. 7.
North Texas Medical Center showered the family with gifts from the NTMC Gift Shop and newborn necessities to take home in honor of the hospital’s first newborn of the year.
Delivering physician was Dr. Zaira Jorai-Khan, who specializes in obstetrics and gynecology at NTMC Health along with colleagues, Dr. DeCarlo Noble, OB/GYN; Dr. Elizabeth Newman, Family Medicine/Obstetrics; and Certified Nurse Midwife Kathy Ellis.
In the last two years, 732 babies have been born at North Texas Medical Center.
“Out of the four (childbirths), this was by far the best experience,” Andrews said.
North Texas Medical Center has been designated as a “Birthing Friendly” hospital by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). According to CMS, this designation identifies hospitals that provide perinatal care, are participating in a maternity care quality improvement collaborative, and have implemented recommended patient safety practices.
