Healthy Looks Good on You
There are many elements to think about when deciding on bariatric surgery. Bariatric surgery is a tool that helps control appetite and reduce portion sizes. The procedures also require patients to make lifestyle changes in order for the weight loss to be permanent.
NTMC offers several options designed to help patients manage their weight. Dr. Dill will work with each patient to determine a personalized plan of treatment. If bariatric surgery is the appropriate solution, we will work with the patient to determine the best strategy to achieve long term success.
Qualified Candidates
Weigh 100 pounds or more over your ideal body weight and the usual diet and exercise programs have failed, surgery for weight loss may help you lose weight and keep it off. North Texas Medical Center offers laparoscopic surgical procedures, diet and exercise consultation, and support to help reach and maintain a healthy weight.
Our patients typically have a body mass index (BMI) 30 or greater. However, to qualify for coverage by health insurance, patients usually need a BMI of 35 or greater with a co-morbid condition such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, arthritis or another weight-related complication.
Support
Bariatric surgery is not a quick-fix for weight loss. We are currently developing a patient support group. Call for more information.
